Eight years after their daughter is killed in a car accident, Doug and Lois Riley go through the motions of life feeling guilty, withdrawn, and numb. When Doug is called down to New Orleans on a business trip, he meets Mallory, a 16 year old runaway stripper. Seeking redemption, Doug takes it upon himself to try and save Mallory.
